There are very many different ways of practicing Reiki, with lots of different Reiki ‘variations’ having been developed in the West over the years, but, whatever the variety, Reiki is something that you can use for yourself, for your own personal benefit, and it is something that you can also share with other people.
Reiki is an oriental method of working with energy that you can use for your own benefit and for the benefit of other people. In its original Japanese form in the1900s Reiki was very much about working on yourself. It was a system that you could use for self-healing, self-development and spiritual development. But when Reiki was first taught in the West in the 1970s, and since that time, Reiki teaching has focused much more on Reiki as a treatment technique, a hands-on treatment method that involves channeling energy. Where does Reiki Come from?
What can it do for me?
As with any complimentary healing, Reiki teaches us to become more aware of our physical, emotional and spiritual needs. If we feed these needs we will be able to feed the needs of others, if we constantly give out without giving to ourselves we will quickly deplete our natural reserves of energy and become ill.
Reiki gently balances and calms the emotions, restores self-worth and gives back a sense of purpose. When the spiritual body is healed, the emotional body will be healed, when the emotions are healed then the physical body will be ready and prepared to accept further healing from any source, either traditional or complimentary.
Reiki will go where it is needed, it will restore life and energy to any part of the body and soul that is distressed or in pain. Reiki healing has been found to be especially beneficial for stress, grief, worry and anxiety. Often painful conditions are relived by Reiki healing as it promotes deep peace and relaxation within, so easing tension. Allergies and disorders may be helped by Reiki as it restores a sense of balance to the mental and emotional bodies. Reiki can be used to help 'control' addictions such as drugs, smoking and alcohol as it strengthens resolve and purpose and gives back control. It allows YOU to be in control of your life, by calming down the mind and soothing the emotions.
Reiki and Orthodox Medicine
Reiki will not impair or interfere with any medications or treatments given by orthodox or traditional practitioners. Reiki helps to detoxify the system and relax stress levels, so effects of chemotherapy, radiotherapy, anaesthetics and drugs are more readily assimilated and released from the body.
Broken bones, recovery from surgery, cuts and bruises are more readily healed as Reiki encourages the body to naturally heal itself. By restoring calm and balance to the mind the body has greater access to its own marvellous healing abilities.
